Abstract

This paper explores the philosophy of Sitou Timou Tumou Tou, a piece of local wisdom from the Minahasa culture meaning “humans live to humanize others,” as a theological and practical foundation for pastoral care for Christian youth. In the midst of globalization, technological advancement, and social pressures, many young people face alienation and a loss of meaning in life. The Church has a responsibility to support them, with this philosophy emphasizing relationships, empathy, empowerment, and love. Biblical teachings, particularly in Leviticus 19:9-18 and Matthew 22:34-40, highlight the importance of loving others. Using a contextual theological approach and qualitative-descriptive methods, this paper shows how the values of Sitou Timou Tumou Tou can bridge theology with the daily lives of young people, enriching pastoral care while deeply rooting itself in the culture and social realities they face.

Keywords: Pastoral accompaniment, Christian youth, Contextual theology.
